I excess Social Security taxes last year. What should I do / Can I recover it?
I changed jobs in the last year. Between the two jobs, I have gained substantially in the maximum SS tax, but the second job clearly did not know my total income for the year and kept taking the social security tax until the end of the year. Probably more SS tax paid by about $ 1-2K. Is there anyway to get this money? If so, how do I do? All help is appreciated.
If the overpayment was two or more employers the overpayment shall be paid payment in line 67 of your 1040 tax return. This is the same as the retention and or reduce your tax liability or increase your refund. You do not need to make another thing properly prepare your tax return 2007.
