Debt collectors may take money from your tax return?
I'm about 4000 dollars in debt and collections of debt! Yes I know its horrible .. I pay back, but only payments … I have been a difficult year. This is my first tax filing income year on my own debt collectors can take that money from my tax return?
No, not tax refunds federal or state are subject to attachment or seizure of creditors. Tax refunds can only be seized or garnished for taxes owed, child support, funded federally funded student loans and in some cases, spousal support (alimony). I hope this answers your question.
